The weather’s beautiful, the flowers are blooming, and of course wedding season is well underway. This is one of the busiest times of the year at Franklin Commons – and since there are so many weddings, there’s extra pressure to make each one special.
Katie and Frank may have tied the knot in June, but their wedding certainly stood out in the crowded season. They bucked tradition by scheduling their special day on a Friday instead of a Saturday.
They began the evening with a heartfelt ceremony at St. Ann’s in Phoenixville. Afterwards, the couple and their 160 guests headed over to Franklin Commons for their reception.
They took full advantage of the beautiful June weather by holding their cocktail hour outside on Campus Walk, where they devoured appetizers like Sea Scallops wrapped in Pepper Bacon, Coconut Shrimp with Mango Horseradish Puree, Cheesesteak Spring Rolls, and Mushrooms Stuffed with Spinach, Cheese, and Sun-Dried Tomato.
Drexelbrook Catering also provided the bride and groom’s “signature” drinks for guests to enjoy. Katie chose a Bellini made from Prosecco and peach puree, while Frank went old-school with a Canadian rye Old Fashioned.
Dinner and dancing kicked off in Franklin Hall, which was decorated with white and peach linens, lanterns, and accents of greenery. White twinkle lights hanging over the dance floor gave the whole room a fairytale vibe perfect for a spring wedding.
The guests dined on a salad of Arugula, Radicchio and Romaine with Shaved Parmesan Cheese & White Balsamic Vinaigrette. As always, there were plenty of Warm Rolls with Butter to go around.
For the second course, guests chose between Panko & Parmesan Crusted Chicken served over Orzo Pasta with Tomato Basil Sauce and Hand Carved Roasted Prime Rib. There were also vegetarian and gluten-free options available, as well as yummy chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, and vegetables for the kids.
No spring wedding would be complete without a cake. Katie and Frank chose a four-tiered cake adorned with fresh flowers that perfectly complemented their decorations. They served it alongside coffee, tea, Rock Candy Sticks, and Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans – not that the guests needed an energy boost.
Not wanting to miss out on the gorgeous weather, they kept Campus Walk open for the duration of their reception. This indoor/outdoor blend of space was perfect for the warm June evening.
Katie and Frank are so excited to begin their adventure together. Thanks to Franklin Commons, they’re already off to a great start.
