At Franklin Commons, we have seen our fair share of fun and original bar mitzvah ideas. We thought we had seen them all…until Shane asked our team to help throw him a truly one-of-a-kind, Mountain Bike-themed extravaganza!
Shane’s love of this thrilling outdoor sport inspired every last detail of his bar mitzvah celebration. From the bike wheels illuminated with colored LED lights, to the cake decorated with fondant cutouts of bikers performing jumps and tricks, our entire venue was truly a mountain biker’s paradise.
Naturally, we wanted to make the food display as memorable as the décor. Adults enjoyed a variety of hors d’oeuvres served on our Campus Walk, including a Sushi Display and a Mediterranean Station laden with Hummus, Tzatziki, Pita Chips, and Olives. We also offered Spanakopita, Chicken Pesto Quesadillas, Flatbreads, Mini Crab Cakes, Lamb Chops, and Oriental Spring Rolls as passed hors d’oeuvres.
While the adults enjoyed the beautiful late-summer weather while being serenaded by a guitarist, the kids filed into our Bistro, where they noshed on made-to-order Nachos built at our Nacho Grande Station. There were also plenty of Mozzarella Sticks, Chicken Quesadillas, Pigs in a Blanket, and Cheese Steak Egg Rolls to go around.
Both groups were pleasantly surprised by their drink menus, which offered up custom Signature Drinks for all age groups. The adults sipped on a Jalapeño Pomegranate Margarita, named the “Spicy Sidewinder.” The kids just couldn’t get enough of their signature drink, aptly named the “Dirt Rider.” It was made by mixing Sprite & Blue Razz, and was topped with a Maraschino Cherry.
After Cocktail Hour, guests both young and old were ushered into Franklin Hall. For dinner, the adults were served Chicken Picatta & Salmon with Miso Ginger Glaze, and the kids ate Caesar Salad, Chicken Tenders, Cheddar Mac & Cheese, and a Slider Station.
A lively DJ kept guests on the dance floor for the rest of the night…that is, until dessert was served! The impressive cake, made by The Master’s Baker, was almost too perfect to cut into (almost…but we knew it would taste just as good as it looked!)
We also provided a Sundae Bar, as well as butlered Signature Mini Desserts for guests to munch on as they danced and wandered the grounds. Needless to say, everyone left the party quite full!
